MIT Climate Change Simulator

Summary

This is a good example of why we need companies to be a Force for Good because it simply and clearly shows the size of what needs to be done in order to avert climate disaster.

Description

How much do greenhouse gas emissions need to change, and how fast, to reduce the risk that human activity will cause dangerous changes in the climate?

Screenshot from MIT CO2 SimulatorThis simple simulator enables you to explore the impact of reducing CO2 emissions by different amounts:  http://scripts.mit.edu/~jfmartin/sip/master/

Drag the red arrow to adjust total global CO2 emissions by different amounts, and then view the blue line, which shows the impact on total CO2 in the atmosphere.

Then consider what different people are telling us about how much CO2 it is "safe" to have in the atmosphere, and explore what it would take to return to the levels of the early 1900s.
