The New Year is the time of new beginnings, and our resolutions are the commitments we make to new goals and possibly even new visions. So why not reflect on what kind of future we want?

 

The Climate Bonds Initiative announced in Brussels last week the countdown to the worlds first Climate Bond issuance - worth a quarter of a billion US dollars - with the release of a draft Compliance Standard that will assure the environmental integrity of bonds issued to fund low carbon projects. The first version of the Standard will apply to wind energy.

If we are looking for ways to chip away at the budget deficit, to keep America competitive and to use market-based mechanisms to build a clean energy economy, then subsidy reform should be near the top of the list.

Green Capitalism generates substantial economic and employment growth and sustainable business and community development by demonstrating that innovation, efficiency, and conservation in the use and reuse of all natural and human resources is the best way to increase jobs, incomes, productivity, and competitiveness.

Sustainability was a hot topic in the early to mid 200s, but following the recession it no longer dominates the agenda of business as it once did. What happened?
