Sustainable Happiness
posted by Len Jones  on November 30, 2010

The Governement are keen on Happiness, but what is it and can it be sustained. In this longer article I attempt to offer some guidance on this subject

The basic idea is that there are two different types of happiness.
The first is the short term quick -fix -buy -something  now which makes us feel good. The second type is deeper and relies on lasting and sustainable self worth. Herein lies the difference  There is a stream of enjoyment, such enjoyments are only a series of short lived experiences and are not sustainable. The difference between the two types of Happiness is made greater by our attitudes to consumerism and our world view.

Talent Management

This is all about having square pegs in square holes.

How is this achieved ?
Lets start with the people, quite often a CEO will either be new to the job, want to implement change or maybe have change forced upon him by external events. Whatever the reason , managing and leading people ( we will use these terms interchangeably) is key to the successful implementation of plans. If we take the example of leadership and describe it, as we have done elsewhere as supporting and enabling people to maximise their potential , then Employee Management is crucial.

Who needs regulation?

We live in a society based on trust and mutual respect, these values come from a deep seated spirituality rather than an enforced set of rules.

The core principle of  money  is  based on Trust and in the absence of trust we flounder . Ultimately those seeking to bend the rules or ignore this deep seated spirituality hurt not only Society at large, but also themselves. Corporate Governance therefore should be principles based rather than rules based .
